Go Coyotes!
Yesterday was Cross Country, Wednesday and Friday are Volleyball – these Kittredge Coyotes don’t seem to slow down! We’re very proud of the commitment and sportsmanship we’ve seen from our students this year.
You can catch our Varsity Volleyball team play Kipp SF at 3:45 on Wednesday, and Burkes at 5:30 on Friday.
Picture Day
Tomorrow, October 19, is the big day! MugsyClicks is coming back to Kittredge for this year’s picture day. No need to order in advance! You’ll receive proofs via email a few weeks from tomorrow. Make sure to send your students to school in their favorite outfits, with any flyaways brushed back, and big smiles on their faces.
High School Prep Day
This Thursday, October 20, is the second and last high school prep day for our eighth graders! Parents should plan on using this time to help students fill out applications, visit high schools, and plan for the next, exciting chapter!

Diwali Celebration
We will have another school-wide Kittredge Celebration of Diwali!
Diwali, or Deepavali, is known as the “Festival of Lights” and is a Hindu holiday widely celebrated in India, in South Asia, and across the Hindu Diaspora. The word ‘Diwali’ derives from Sanskrit and means “a row of lights.” Festivities include the illumination of lights, candles, firecrackers, and diyas or deepas (clay lamps) to symbolize the victory of good over evil, inner light over spiritual darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is a time for gathering with loved ones, celebrating life, and committing to making the right decisions in life.
Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, and people of Indian heritage and non-Indian heritage. Despite each faith having its own historical legends and celebratory events, the holiday represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.

**Please wear your brightest colors on Monday, October 24th! We will celebrate with a quick dance, rangoli chalk drawing, and finish up with yummy samosas washed-down with mango lassi.
K-4 Pumpkin Patch
It’s almost here! One of the most anticipated field trips of the school year, the lower grades pumpkin patch trip, happens next Wednesday, October 26th. If your child uses a booster seat, please send it to school with them on the 26th. Don’t forget to pack a hearty lunch and comfortable walking shoes.
Looking Ahead
Halloween
Halloween is less than two weeks away! Students (and teachers) are encouraged to wear costumes all day, and participate in the Halloween spirit. Costumes may not contain any toy weapons, and anything that might interfere with learning (masks, wings, and other distracting accessories) should be kept in students’ backpacks during class time. As a reminder, Kittredge is a candy-free school.
Our annual costume parade will be on Monday, October 31 at 2:30pm. Parents are encouraged to meet students outside of Kittredge and march to Rochambeau Park, where our music teacher Gianfranco will lead the students in a Halloween song. Afterwards, students, parents, goblins, and ghouls may stay to mingle and celebrate the holiday. Parents must notify their child’s teacher before leaving the playground with their child.
Sibling Applications Due
Sibling applications to Kittredge are due Tuesday, November 15. Parents should ensure that they have filled out their applications, and received and submitted teacher evaluations, by this date. Have questions about the sibling application process? Don’t hesitate to reach out to the office. We’re here to help!
