This Week's News

Sports Spirit Day!

We loved seeing students and staff represent their team, from as far away as Gaelic Games in Ireland to as close to home as Kittredge volleyball and cross country! Kittredge really knows how to show up for a spirit day!

Habit of Mind: Striving for Accuracy

It takes practice. Sinking that three-pointer, beating your last race finishing time, learning to ride a bike, speak a foreign language or drawing a self portrait all take practice to see progress. Our student council talked about Striving for Accuracy at this week's assembly. This habit had our students working in teams to launch their bean bags toward a circle on the ground. More reps helped us get closer to our goal. This is a good month to talk with your child about what they've been working on and how they see progress. You might share with your child, what you are still practcing. Grown ups are growing too!

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch this Friday (10/9) will be: Burrito bowl, Juice Box, Fruit/Veg, and a Side Item.

The cost of each lunch will be $9.50. A second (or even a third) slice, bagel, etc. may be ordered for an additional $3.00 each.

Orders are placed on Thursday morning. All orders must be submitted by end of day on Wednesday.

Open Houses

We are hosting a few Open Houses in the coming weeks. The first one will be tomorrow night, and is for parents of applicants! If you know anyone who would be a great addition to Kittredge or may be interested in learning more about us, please share this information.

Sports Report

Our Kittredge Coyotes are doing a FANTASTIC job showing up and crushing it! Cross Country has been putting in the work and have a meet TODAY at Mclaren Park at 4:30pm. No volleyball games this week, but they’ll be back in action with two games after Fall Break! Thank you to our amazing athletes and coaches for representing Kittredge so well!

High School Visits

If you talk to our 8th grade students, you'll know that high school application season is in full swing. Students have the opportunity to meet representatives from different high schools throughout the fall. Students can look forward to the following visits in the next few weeks:

October 7 - Urban High School

October 8 - Jewish Community High School

October 20 - The Branson School

6th & 7th De Young Field Trip 10/8

This Thursday, our 6th and 7th graders will be visiting the de Young Museum to see “The Treasures of the Pharaohs” Egyptian exhibit! Please make sure students arrive at Kittredge on time, as they will be leaving campus no later than 8:45 a.m.

Students should bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and/or a hat, water, and a lunch.

K-3 Pumpkin Patch Trip 10/9

Ms. Grazi's and Ms. Olivia's classes are heading to the Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 9. Please make sure your child has appropriate footwear, clothing, and a booster seat for this trip. A hearty lunch and full water bottle will set your child up for a successful day. If you are planning to drive, please make sure your driver form is completed and on file with the office.

Fall Break

We hope you have a lovely and restful Fall Break! There will be no classes from October 12–16, and we’ll see everyone back at school on Monday, October 19.

For families who need care during the break, we will be offering Extended Day from 7:45am – 6:00pm, Tuesday through Friday. If you would like your child to attend Extended Day at any point during Fall Break, please fill out this Google Form by Wednesday, October 7.

Looking Ahead

6-8 Alcatraz Field Trip

Our 6-8 graders will be heading to Alcatraz on Monday, October 19! Please make sure students arrive at Kittredge before the 8am departure, as we will be leaving campus promptly in the morning. Students should have comfortable walking shoes, a jacket, water, sunscreen, and lunch. Come ready for a fun day of exploring and learning!

Parent Volunteers Wanted

Speaking of Halloween! We are excited to share that Kittredge School will celebrate Halloween on Oct 25 and Oct 31, passing out treats and spreading the word about the best little school in town.

If you would like to volunteer either outside of Kittredge or at the Great Hauntway, use this spreadsheet to sign up.

We need you! Please consider donating a bag of candy. Donations will benefit our Kittredge Community Halloween event. Please drop off candy donations in the office on or before Thursday and Friday. We are looking forward to making a lot of little faces smile! Thank you for your support.

Halloween Parade

Halloween is right around the corner!! On Friday, October 30th, parents and family members are invited to join us at 2pm for our annual holiday parade. Kittredge students, teachers, and community members will parade around the block before gathering at Rochambeau Park for some Halloween festivities, led by our performing arts teacher Ms. K!

Students may come to school in costume on the morning of October 30th. Accessories such as masks, wings, or inflatables should be kept in a backpack until the time of the parade. Please note, pretend weapons or violent costumes are not allowed.

Parents, if you plan to depart with your child after the festivities, please make sure to swing by the office before you leave. All students will leave their belongings in their classrooms during the parade.

Fall Fundraising

Thursday, October 8 is the final day to submit your CMI and raffle donations. Please consider donating an item for the raffle or hosting a CMI event! Some favorite events in the past include: Pinot with Ms. Pon-Barry, bike riding meet-up, Aperol Spritz tasting, felt wreath decorating, dumpling making, family hikes, and so many more. Events can be for students, adults, or the whole family. Do you have an idea to bring the Kittredge community together this year?
