Second Trimester Ends This Thursday, March 12
We're almost there! Trimester two is very nearly a thing of the past. If your child needs a last minute push, this is it! Check over Teacherease to see if anything is missing and communicate with your child about how they feel their trimester is going.
Starting this Week: Early Spring Cooking Club at Kittredge School
Does your child enjoy helping in the kitchen — or want to learn how to cook independently? This spring, students will gain hands-on experience preparing authentic Asian favorites from scratch, including Chinese Sesame Seed Balls, Steamed Glutinous Rice Dumplings, and Japanese Takoyaki.
Designed especially for Kittredge students, this structured after-school program builds real culinary skills through guided, age-appropriate instruction. Each week, students actively measure, mix, knead, shape, steam, and cook their own recipes while learning proper kitchen safety and technique.
Open to Grades K–8
Beyond cooking, students strengthen sequencing, patience, fine motor coordination, and confidence through structured, hands-on practice.

Mark your calendars, the Talent Show is THIS week!
The big day is THIS Thursday!
The Kittredge talent show will be on Thursday, March 12, at the JCHS Theater. Students should be in their seat no later than 6:15, and the show will begin at 6:30.
Parents, you are invited to use JCHS's secure parking garage, located on Pierce Street, just around the corner from the school's main entrance on Ellis Street. Set your navigation to 1227 Pierce Street, and use the call box outside the garage to enter upon arrival. If you choose to take public transportation or ride share, you can join us via the main entrance, 1835 Ellis Street, San Francisco, CA 94115.
Light snacks will be provided outside of the theater between 6:00 and 6:30, but we strongly recommend students also have dinner before the show begins. Food and drink of any kind are not allowed inside the theater.
There will be no homework the day of the Talent Show, and Extended Day will close at 5:30pm.

On Wednesday, March 11, during the school day, all students will be participating in a dress rehearsal. We will take SF Muni to JCHS. Students will need a packed lunch, water bottle, and any props, sheet music, or other necessary parts of their act. If they fit, please makes sure all of these items are in a gallon plastic bag with your students name on them.
We ask that students wear their class act costume to school, and pack their individual act costume if they have one.

Descartes Math

Spring Enrollment Is Now Open — Deadline this Thursday March 12th — for Descartes’ Semi-Private Math Enrichment Classes at Kittredge
We’re happy to continue offering the Semi-Private After-School Math & Logic Enrichment Classes at Kittredge School, offered in partnership with Descartes Learning Club (DLC).
Founded by a Stanford alumna and designed in collaboration with a Stanford mathematics professor and a former coach of the Chinese International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Team, DLC brings semi-private (2–4 students per instructor), engaging, and rigorous math and logic enrichment to our campus.
DLC’s program features:
Exceptionally small class sizes (2–4 students) with a 2:1 to 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio, allowing highly individualized, appropriately challenging instruction.
Expertly trained instructors with strong mathematical and teaching backgrounds, supported by DLC’s rigorous, evidence-based training model.
An engaging and rigorous curriculum that builds abstract thinking, logical reasoning, collaborative problem-solving, and a genuine love of mathematics through puzzles, games, and rich problem-solving tasks. Learn more about our curriculum and see sample lessons.Â
DLC has grown rapidly through word-of-mouth from families and now partners with 19 academically focused schools across San Francisco, Pacifica, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Portola Valley and East Bay. To learn more, you may visit their website, browse parent testimonials, or contact them at info@descarteslearningclub.com.
If your child is new to the program, DLC will offer free on-campus math assessments on Tuesday, March 10 from 4:30-5pm.
To apply for or RSVP to the free assessment, please complete the application form by 5pm this Thursday March 12th.
Email info@descarteslearningclub.com if you have any questions.Â

A Glimpse Behind the Scenes
When is our K/1 class not a K/1 class….

….When it hosts the National Independent Private School Association Board meeting luncheon, as it did this past Saturday. Board members from around the country (Florida, New York, Louisiana, New Mexico etc.) were treated to an amazing lunch curated and donated by the Birch family (Ruby in fifth grade and Barron in second.) Celine and Josh’s generous and delicious contributions were the highlight of the meeting, especially for the Board’s West Coast Vice President and host Terry Young! Â
