Habit of Mind

Last week students participated in our first Habits of Mind assembly. During the assembly, each teacher was given the same statement to read aloud, but with a different emotion. One teacher was assigned to deliver the statement with empathy. Students worked together to identify the emotions they heard and, ultimately, figure out which teacher was speaking with empathy.

Together, students explored the idea of Listening with Understanding and Empathy. We encourage parents to have meaningful conversations with their child about times when they have practiced empathy by listening to and understanding someone else’s perspective.

Back-to-School Night

Thank you to all that attended our Back to School Night last week. It was lovely to see everyone here in the building with us. This was a great chance for teachers to connect with parents, and learn what to expect this school year. If you were unable to attend, please reach out to the office so we can share the information you will need for the year.

Sick Policy

It seems to be that time of year when the seasons change and sickness starts making its way around! If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home to rest and recover. Please also make sure your child has been fever-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

Reminding your child to wash their hands frequently and cover coughs and sneezes can also help prevent illnesses from spreading. Thank you for helping us keep Kittredge safe and healthy!

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch this Friday (9/25) will be: Chicken Strips, Juice Box, Piece of Fruit, and a Side Item.

The cost of each lunch will be $9.50. A second (or even a third) slice, bagel, etc. may be ordered for an additional $3.00 each.

Orders are placed on Thursday morning. All orders must be submitted by end of day on Wednesday.

High School Visits

Our eigth graders were lucky enough to have visits from Marin Academy High School and San Francisco High School of the Arts over the past week. We are looking forward to presentations from Waldorf High School, Drew High School, and Sacred Heart Cathedral next week! We're off to a great start with high school Admissions!

Volleyball

Get ready to bring your Kittredge pride as volleyball starts TODAY, September 22nd as we face off against Live Oak School at UCSF Mission Bay.

Chess Club is Back!

Due to popular demand, we are bringing back Chess Club! Meetings will be held on Fridays from 3:15pm to 4:15pm starting on 9/25. Find the flyer below and more information at www.academicchess.com!

Cooking Club is Underway!

Cooking club is back this Fall, and there are still open spots for this session! Cooking Club is a fun, hands-on class where students learn practical

kitchen skills while preparing a variety of kid-friendly recipes. It will take place on Fridays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. You can sign up using this link!

Looking Ahead

Fall Break Extended Day

Fall break is just three weeks away! We will be offering full-day Extended Day care from Tuesday, October 13 through Friday, October 16. To help us plan accordingly, please fill out this form to let us know which days your child will be attending Extended Day. Thank you!

Bakers & Makers: Parisian Pastry Design Camp

Bake it. Design it. Make it your own!

In this 3-day camp, children will make colorful macarons and buttery sablé cookies while creating their own miniature pastry brand. Campers will choose a bakery name, design a logo and personalize ready-made pastry boxes to showcase their treats.

Combining baking, decorating, art and design, this camp gives children the chance to create a complete pastry collection that looks as wonderful as it tastes. Every camper will bring home handmade treats in their own beautifully decorated pastry box.

Dates: 10/13-10/15

Time: 9am -3 pm

Ages: 1st grade to 8th grade

Sibling Applications

Sibling applications for the 2026-2027 school year are due November 15! Please reach out to the office with any questions you may have or to talk about the sibling admissions process.

KPA Korner

KPA Meeting TONIGHT at 6 pm

Join us at the first KPA meeting of the year: tonight, September 22 from 6-7 pm at school. Please come in person if possible, but we will have Zoom available for those unable to attend in person. Childcare with pizza will be available during the meeting.
