Kittredge Konnection – September 28, 2021

TeacherEase Survey

Thank you to everyone who has added this extra step into their busy morning routine. We appreciate your continued effort and thank you for making the morning drop off easier for everyone each day. We are happily finding most students checked off and ready to enter their classrooms when they are dropped-off.

We also appreciate those who call or email to explain why their child had been flagged when completing the screening. This helps us monitor symptoms at Kittredge as well as contact tracing that the health department may need.

Thank You for Keeping our Loading Zone Safe

We try to keep our loading zone free for two cars at a time and move everyone in and out as efficiently as possible. Thank you for having your child’s backpack and lunchbox ready to go. If you have extra items to get or your Covid Screening to complete, we appreciate you driving up the block to do this. That way cars do not back up around the corner.

Thank you for modeling safe choices for our Kittredge kids.

Volleyball Has Begun – Our next Game is Friday

A note from Coach Gules

A GIANT congratulations to our Kittredge Volleyball team! They had an amazing team win against Children’s Day School yesterday! Both games went down to the wire and our team was able to work together to push through for the win. We are so proud of the team, they are working together, being supportive, caring and taking a responsible risk to try something new! There is another game this Friday! We will try to broadcast this on Zoom (Link below). Please be aware this is pending until we know that our technology will work in the gym.    Gooooooooo KITTREDGE!

Who Wore it Better

Last Friday Ms. Horrocks and Ms. Mara modeled some sweet Kittredge gear. Fridays are the perfect day to wear any Field Day t-shirts, Kittredge Strong t-shirts or other Kittredge gear that have been tucked away in a closet or drawer.

New to Kittredge? Outgrown your old Field Day shirts? Kittredge colors are black and white, and we’re hoping to see lots of students and teachers wearing these colors and showing their Kittredge Pride on Fridays.

Want to get your hands on some new Kittredge gear? Use and be ready for future Friday Kittredge Pride days.

Fall Holiday – October 11

As written in our calendar, there will be no classes on Monday, October 11. Celebrating the Fall Holiday will give everyone a well deserved break as well as some time to appreciate this wonderful season.

October 13 and 21 – High School Visit Days for 8th Graders

October 13 and 21 are “no school” days for our 8th grade students. These days are designed to allow 8th graders to visit high schools and work on their application essays without missing class time.

KPA Social – October 21 – Save the Date

The KPA has begun planning for the first social of the year. This will be from 7pm to 9pm and for adults only. Details will follow, but save the date.

We Will (hopefully) See Some Rain This Year

If we are lucky, there will be a long and wonderful rainy season coming our way. Please know that barring a serious rain storm, your children will continue to be brought outside for recess breaks and PE classes.

We have always believed in the many benefits of physical activity breaks… studies show that students are happier, get better grades, and have improved cognitive performance, to name a few. During these Covid times we also have the added benefit of safety from the virus when we are outside.

Please consider having rain boots or waterproof shoes as well as a rain coat available for your child to wear outside during those times.

Travel Restrictions for Thanksgiving Week

Please remember we are following CDC guidelines and will require unvaccinated students to quarantine after a flight. Here is the latest from the CDC.

Recommendations for People Who Are Not Fully Vaccinated

If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, take the following steps to protect yourself and others from COVID-19:

  1. Before you travel:

  2. Get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before your trip.

  3. While you are traveling:

  4. Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and while indoors at U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations. Travelers are not required to wear a mask in outdoor areas of a conveyance (like on open deck areas of a ferry or the uncovered top deck of a bus). CDC recommends that travelers who are not fully vaccinated continue to wear a mask and maintain physical distance when traveling.

  5. Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet/2 meters (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who is not traveling with you.

  6. Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol).

  7. After you travel:

  8. Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.

  9. Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.

  10. If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.

  11. If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

  12. Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.

  13. Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

  14. Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.
