Hot Lunch


Hot Lunch this Friday (10/24) will be: Chicken Strips, Juice Box, Fruit/Veg, and a Side Item.


The cost of each lunch will be $9.00. A second (or even a third) slice, bagel, etc. may be ordered for an additional $3.00 each.


If you have not already done so for the month, place your orders using this Google form,


Orders are placed on Thursday morning. All orders must be submitted by end of day on Wednesday.


Diwali Celebration at Kittredge this Wednesday 10/22!


Some of our lovely Kittredge parents have organized a Diwali celebration at Kittredge tomorrow. Duniya Dance and Drum Company will put on dance performance, students will draw some rangoli designs, and enjoy some South Asian treats. Please wear your brightest colors on Wednesday for Diwali!


Diwali, or Deepavali, is known as the “Festival of Lights” and is a Hindu holiday widely celebrated in India, in South Asia, and across the Hindu Diaspora. The word ‘Diwali’ derives from Sanskrit and means “a row of lights.” Festivities include the illumination of lights, candles, firecrackers, and diyas or deepas (clay lamps) to symbolize the victory of good over evil, inner light over spiritual darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is a time for gathering with loved ones, celebrating life, and committing to making the right decisions in life.


Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, people of Indian heritage and non-Indian heritage. Despite each faith having its own historical legends and celebratory events, the holiday represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.

Sports Report


Our Kittredge teams are finishing the season out strong with only a few more meets and games! Our next cross country meet is TODAY, October 21, at Crissy Field. The walk through will begin at 4:00. Our next volleyball game is this Thursday, October 23, against SF School at SF School. The game will begin at 4:00pm.


Pumpkin Patch


Our K-3 classes had a wonderful time at Pastorino Pumpkin Patch in Half Moon Bay. Kids young and old picked the perfect pumpkins. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped make it happen. Now, it feels like fall!

Chess Club


Today is the last day to sign up for an abridged Chess Club on Fridays running from the end of October to early December. There will be 5 sessions running from 3:15 to 4:15. Find more information in the document below and register through this link.



Cooking Club


We had such a good time with the last few weeks of Cooking Club, so we are doing it again!! Find the document below for more information on the next session of Cooking Club November through December. Find the link here (password is kittredge).



High School Visits


If you talk to our 8th grade students, you'll know that high school application season is in full swing. Students have the opportunity to meet representatives from different high schools throughout the fall. Students can look forward to a visit from Branson next Monday!


Halloween Parade


Halloween is right around the corner!! Kids are invited to come to school in costume. On Friday, October 31st, parents and family members are invited to join us at 2pm for our annual holiday parade. Kittredge students, teachers, and community members will parade around the block before gathering at Rochambeau Park for some Halloween festivities, led by our performing arts teacher Ms. K!


Parents, if you plan to depart with your child after the festivities, please make sure to swing by the office before you leave. All students will leave their belongings in their classrooms during the parade.


Parent Volunteers Wanted


Speaking of Halloween! We are excited to share that Kittredge School will celebrate Halloween on Oct 26 and Oct 31, passing out treats and spreading the word about the best little school in town.


If you would like to volunteer either outside of Kittredge or at the Great Hauntway, use this spreadsheet to sign up.


We need you! Please consider donating a bag of candy. Donations will benefit our Kittredge Community Halloween event. Please drop off candy donations in the office on or before Thursday and Friday. We are looking forward to making a lot of little faces smile! Thank you for your support.

Picture Day


Time to start picking out those outfits, Kittredge! Picture Day is Friday, November 7. Come ready to show your pearly whites and when the photos are available a few weeks after Picture Day, you can decide on photo package options. Keep an eye on your inbox for more details!

Fall Fundraising Raffle and Count Me In Sign Ups


Our Fall Fundraiser is still underway! Head over to our auction site The Great Kittredge Harvest to see all the exciting items up for grabs and fun CMI events to join. The raffle closes on October 31 at 11 pm, so don't wait long. Raffle winners will be announced at the Fall Social on November 1. Thank you to everyone who has participated so far!


Our Volunteers Make the Holiday Happening Happen

 

Please save December 18, from 6:30-8 pm for our annual Holiday Happening, and also consider lending a hand to this fun and festive celebration.

 

Next week’s Konnection will include a link to a volunteer sign-up sheet (options will include helping with set up, taking a short shift at a game or craft station, bringing a dessert or drinks, or pitching in on post-event clean up).
