Thank you Parent Volunteers!

We had so much help from our lovely parents this past week making some Halloween magic. Big thanks to Bec, Jessica, Aarthi, Adrien, Kelley, Jane, Lisa, Matt, Vinny, Jessica, and Laura for their help! From stuffing goodie bags, to passing out treats and spreading the word about the best little school in town - Thank you! We really appreciate our community.

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch this Friday (11/6) will be: Cheese Pizza, Juice Box, Fruit/Veg, and a Side Item.

The cost of each lunch will be $9.50. A second (or even a third) slice, bagel, etc. may be ordered for an additional $3.00 each.

Here is the new form for this new month!

Orders are placed on Thursday morning. All orders must be submitted by end of day on Wednesday.

Picture Day This Thursday

Picture Day is coming up this Thursday, November 5! Start picking out those outfits and get ready to smile! You should have received an email with more information in your inbox today! If you did not, please contact our office.

Rainwear Reminder

Today we experienced a bit of rain here on Lake St! As we see more rainy days ahead, please make sure to send students with a rain coat. We will take any chance we can get for some outside time, even if it is just a walk in the rain. Thank you for sending kids with proper rain gear to keep them dry!

Open Houses

We have two more open houses, and one will be this Saturday at 10am. We encourage prospective families to come check us out and get to know our space and our mission! If you know of a family who you think would be a great Kitt fit, send them our way! We would love to meet them.

    Sibling Applications 

If your family is applying for sibling priority, the deadline is November 15th! We're happy to chat about the application process and any materials you may need. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the office with questions. We're here to help!

Sports Report

Our last volleyball game is this Thursday at CAIS! Cross Country Finals will take place Monday, November 9th at Hellman Hollow, and they are ready to go out with a bang! Thank you to Coach Gules and our families for their support all season. Go Coyotes!

Veterans Day

There will be no school next Wednesday, November 11th, in honor of Veterans Day.

Happy Diwali, Kittredge!

Some Kittredge families have organized a Diwali celebration at Kittredge next Tuesday, 11/10 at 1:45pm. Students will learn and perform a traditional dance, draw some rangolis, and enjoy some South Asian treats. Please wear your most colorful clothes to school for Diwali! All families are welcome to join the festivities!

Diwali, or Deepavali, is known as the “Festival of Lights” and is a Hindu holiday widely celebrated in India, South Asia, and across the Hindu Diaspora. The word ‘Diwali’ derives from Sanskrit and means “a row of lights.” Festivities include the illumination of lights, candles, firecrackers, and diyas or deepas (clay lamps) to symbolize the victory of good over evil, inner light over spiritual darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is a time for gathering with loved ones, celebrating life, and committing to making the right decisions in life.

Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, people of Indian heritage and non-Indian heritage. Despite each faith having its own historical legends and celebratory events, the holiday represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.

**Get a jumpstart on learning the dandiya stick dance moves! Momo, in 5th grade, made a tutorial!

Looking Ahead

Academy of Sciences

It's almost time for one of our favorite field trips of the year! Our annual school-wide trip to the Academy of Sciences is slotted for Wednesday, November 18. We can't wait to walk through the rainforest, wave hello to penguins, and stand below towering dinosaurs with our students again this year! If you are scheduled as a driver, please make sure we have your driver info on file in the office.

Thanksgiving Break

Already?! Thanksgiving Break will be here before we know it. Please remember that Kittredge will be closed November 23-27. Classes will resume on November 30.

KPA Korner

Last Call for Fall Fundraising!

Our fall fundraiser, The Great Kittredge Gathering closes this Friday, November 6 at 10 pm. We are close to reaching our fundraising goal, currently sitting at 86.7%. Thank you to everyone who has participated so far! The money we raise funds events and supplies for our students throughout the year. This year, we are also raising money for classroom furniture! 

Please check out the website one last time and send it to family and friends. If you have your eye on Nutcracker tickets, a weekend in Sonoma, or Principal for the day, you might want to grab a few more raffle tickets, as competition for those is heating up! Raffle winners will be announced at the Fall Social on November 7. And there are still CMIs with space available! K-3 students can join the slime party and the window charm making event, and all are welcome to join hikes, the karaoke party, the Zelda movie party, and more. CMIs are a great opportunity for kids across grades (and parents) to connect, have fun and make memories together. And don't forget, 85% participation will get our kids an ice cream party! Thank you for your generosity and for being part of this wonderful community.
