It takes less than one minute!

Back to School Night for Parents, This Thursday September 13

All parents are invited into their child’s classroom to learn about the curriculum and goals for the upcoming year. The doors will open at 6:15 so that teachers can start their presentations promptly at 6:30. A general overview of the year as well as classroom policies and expectations will be discussed. There will be no individual conferences at this time.

This evening is for adults only and we will not be able to provide childcare. Please remember that parking can be difficult, so plan appropriately. Walking, biking and carpooling are recommended. See you there!

Picture Day is Friday, September 14

Lifetouch Photography will be here on Friday to take individual pictures of all our students. Please send your child to school with a smile! Pictures will be available to purchase online.

On October 18th there will be retakes for anyone who wants one, or anyone who was absent. There will be a class photo taken on October 18 as well.

Student Council Elections This Friday

We have many fine candidates running for a few spots on the Kittredge Student Council. We congratulate all the students who are running for an office. Since there is only one representative per office, the candidate who gets the most votes will be the representative. However, it must be said that anyone who is running now to represent the school is already a winner!

The candidates are:

4/5th grades class rep: Cara, Cerys, Lachlan, Mia, Abby G., Sammy, Luke, Pilar, Ari

6th grade class rep: Benjamin, Rachel, Shani,

7th grade class rep: Alexander, Maximilian, Sasha

Secretary: Marcella, Tilden

President: Boris, Aria, Mark

Student council elections will be held this Friday, September 14. Candidates for class representatives will be making their speeches in their classrooms at a time designated by the teacher. The candidates for president and secretary will address the whole school this Thursday, September 13. Good luck to all the candidates!

Congratulations, Aria

Eighth grader Aria is a competitive Equestrian Vaulter. Because of her strong commitment and hard work, she had a very successful year placing 4th in Nationals for her age group.

For anyone who is interested in learning more about this sport, the World Equestrian Games begin next week in North Carolina. Aria is too young, but seniors from her club in Woodside will be representing the USA. This event will be live streamed on and, Also, the New York Times has an article about it:

Habit of Mind for September: Listening with Understanding and Empathy

The ability to listen to another person, to empathize with, and to understand their point of view is one of the highest forms of intelligent behavior. Some people interrupt and are unable to consider the merits of another person’s ideas.

Listening with understanding and empathy will help students learn to listen without judgment and prejudice.

“Try to see it my way, only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong. While you see it your way, there’s a chance that we might fall apart before too long. We can work it out. We can work it out.” ~John Lennon and Paul McCartney
