Kittredge Konnection - May 21, 2024

This Week's News

Student Council Works to Save the Rainforest

Kittredge kids are saving the rainforest, one fruit cup at a time!

This afternoon our student council hosted a fundraiser for the Rainforest Alliance. In exchange for donations toward this great cause, students received a cup of fresh fruit - the perfect treat for a warm day like today!

At the end of the day, we are proud to share that students raised $558 toward their cause.

Principal Tim

You may have noticed that Ms. Pon-Barry looked a little bit different on Monday... that's because there's a new principal in town!

Tim did a wonderful job fulfilling all principal duties: helping kids out of cars, signing important paperwork, and embodying the Kittredge spirit of kindness all through the day.

Thanks Tim!

Kidstock Performers Take a Bow

Yesterday afternoon our Kidstock drama students showcased their talents with an impressive song and dance performance. Students were beaming ear-to-ear in their shark and pirate costumes as they sang and danced for a crowd of parents and teachers.

It was a delight to see what our creative kids are capable of! Bravo, Kittredge!

2/3 Celebration of Learning

Tomorrow, May 22, parents and family members of our 2/3 class are invited to attend their third and final Celebration of Learning. Students will showcase their projects at 2:15pm in the Kittredge courtyard. We hope to see you there!

Baker Beach Clean-up and Picnic

Our Baker Beach cleanup is this Thursday, May 23. This year we are partnering with Refuse Refuse to show our favorite neighborhood beach some love!

Kittredge will provide hot dogs, and students in each class will be responsible for various additional items to the picnic.

  • K/1 - Compostable Cutlery

  • 2/3 - Fruit, Veggie Tray, or Chips

  • 4/5 - Allergen-friendly dishes

  • 6 - Cookies

  • 7 - Drinks (juice, water, no soda)

Next Week's News

No Classes Next Monday, May 27

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Kittredge will be closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of the holiday. We hope you have a wonderful four day weekend!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Next Wednesday, May 29 the 7th and 8th grade classes will take MUNI with Mr. Young and Ms. Mara to a Giants game!

Students should either bring lunch, or money to purchase lunch at the ballpark. Please note that Oracle Park is cash-free, and students who plan on buying lunch should bring a debit card, device for ApplePay, or plan on converting cash to a card at the park.

Our 7th and 8th graders should return to Kittredge by 5:00pm.

7th Grade to the Legion of Honor

On Thursday, May 30, our 7th grade class will join Ms. Mara for a trip to the Legion of Honor! Students will walk to the museum from Kittredge and take in an exhibit of Japanese prints.

7th graders should come to school with a lunch, comfortable walking shoes, and money for treats (they will stop along the way).

Students will also have a surprise guest.... next year's 8th grade teacher Mr. Vance Whipple! We so look forward to the opportunity for our incoming 8th graders to meet their new teacher.

8th Grade Paddle Boarding and Mini-Golf

Best day ever? It just might be!

On Thursday, May 30, the 8th grade class will go paddle boarding in Marin, followed by mini golf! Parents, you should have received an email from Mr. Young with all the details. Please reach out to the office if you have questions.

Field Day is NEXT Friday!

It's almost time for one of our favorite days of the year! Field Day will be held next Friday, May 31.

For those who do not know, Field Day is an amazingly fun day where students will be participating in activities all day long with their friends and schoolmates. Activities range from 50 yard dash, relay races, football toss and an epic game of capture the flag!

This year, Field Day will be at Lindley Meadow in Golden Gate Park,

We ask that each student wear their team color to show their team spirit for the day. You can find a list of team colors in your Konnection email. Each student will be given a Field Day T-shirt to wear that day, so we suggest you get creative with your team color! This can be pants, shorts, socks, shoes, headbands, hats – even wigs are encouraged!

Please have your child bring a healthy, hearty lunch and their own water bottle, marked with their name.  There will be plenty of water for students to refill at the event.  It is going to be a long, active day, so don’t forget sunblock and a jacket! Blankets are encouraged for the giant picnic.

Thursday, June 6 - Minimum Day and Last Day of School!

That's all, folks! Thursday, June 6 is the last day of the school year! It's going to be here before we know it, so students should be aware of any last projects, tests, or assignments. We hope our Kittredge community has a wonderful summer!

Speaking of Summer! Register TODAY for the Kittredge Summer Program
