THIS WEEK’S NEWS
Tomorrow is Rainbow Day
Students are encouraged to dress up for our spirit day tomorrow. Each class is given a color of the rainbow. Students are invited to dress in their class color. Rainbow accessories are also encouraged. Class colors are: K/1: Red, 2/3: Orange, 4/5: Yellow, 6: Green, 7: Blue, 8: Purple.
Assembly tomorrow: Thinking Interdependently
Tomorrow, our students will discuss the importance of collaborating, remaining open to others’ perspectives, and how their thinking can be enhanced by the working with others. Listening, consensus-seeking, giving up an idea to work with someone else, empathy, compassion, all are behaviors indicative of those who benefit from thinking interdependently.
Your child may want to consider these questions: How can we work best together? How can I best contribute to this group? How am I affecting the group? How is the group affecting me?
Mask Guidance Change
By now, you should have received an email from firstname.lastname@example.org. This email outlines the update to our mask guidance.
Beginning tomorrow, masking outside will no longer be required. Students can put masks in a pocket, under their chin, or on their wrist if they chose to take them off during outside activities. All students have also been given a mask holder to clip their mask around their neck if that makes it easier for them.
Inside, face coverings will continue to be required through March 23, 2022, allowing more time for families to get their elementary age children fully vaccinated.
You can update your child’s vaccine status here

NEXT WEEK’S NEWS
End of the Second Trimester – March 18
Our second trimester is ending in a little over a week. There is still time to check TeacherEase and see what is posted in many classes. If you have questions, please check with your child and the teacher.
Parent Teacher Conferences, March 31 and April 1
It’s that time again and we look forward to discussing your child’s progress. We are holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday, March 31 and April 1.
Teachers will be reaching out to schedule conferences, so please be on the lookout for their emails.
School will be dismissed at noon on both days. There will be another Extendo registration emailed for students who need to stay after our noon dismissal on those days.
Vaccines For 7th Grade Entrance
The state of California requires a Tdap vaccine for all students to be able to enter 7th grade in September. All current 6th graders entering 7th grade at Kittredge must turn in proof of this immunization by April 15th. If your child still needs the vaccine, please schedule it during Spring Break. If he or she already has it, please have your doctor send us the immunization record.
It is also likely that the state will require proof of a Covid Vaccination for 7th and 8th graders. We will send more details on this when we get them.
Summer at Kittredge – June 20 to July 22
Summer is a great opportunity to engage children in activities that enrich their academic foundation and keep them involved and interested in learning.
Your child is invited to join our 5-week summer program which is open to all students entering first through eighth grades. Mornings are designed to keep students active and their grade level skills strong. The afternoons offer a variety of free play and structured activities.
