How To Apply for Admission
Application Checklist
• Schedule a tour or an open house.
• Complete the on-line application.
• Email or give the confidential Student Evaluation Form to your child’s current teacher so that the teacher can complete and return the form to the Kittredge admissions office. Have the completed form sent to ponbarry@kittredge.org. Choose the correct form for your child’s current grade here: Pre-K:Kindergarten Form Grades 1 through 8 Form
• Give the Record Release Form (applicants to grades 1–8) to your child’s current school: Records Release Form
Visiting Kittredge School
We are pleased to be able to offer live visits to the school this year. To ensure that all families understand our philosophy and have a chance to experience our school community, we encourage everyone interested to see the school. We offer open houses and tours for all grade levels.

Open Houses
We will offer both virtual and live open houses this year. Evening open houses, live or virtual, are offered from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on two weekday evenings. One Saturday morning open house is scheduled from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Open Houses provide an excellent opportunity to meet and talk with teachers and hear from the Principal, current parents, and both current and former students, and have a chance to see the school and ask questions about the school and the admissions process. Tours
We will be conducting live tours of the school this year from October through December, during the school day. Tours provide an opportunity to speak with the Principal, visit classrooms, and ask questions about the admissions process. A reservation is needed for these tours. Student Play Dates and Visits
Play Dates and Visits are scheduled in January and February after we have a completed application on file. Student visits are a chance for your child to experience Kittredge School firsthand, for a full school day. We make it priority to put your child at ease in a new environment.
Kindergarten applicants attend a one hour play date on a weekend. While children are enjoying their play date, their parents get another chance to ask questions of our staff and current Kittredge School parents. Play dates will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 28 and Saturday, February 4, 2023.
Applicants to grades 1 through 8 visit the school for a day and participate the regular classroom activities of their current grade. The teachers assess student skills during the visit and the Principal administers an individual assessment.
Sibling Applications
We will make early admissions decisions for siblings of current students upon request. Sibling applications are due by Tuesday, November 15, and families will receive our decisions by Thursday, December 15, 2022.
Admissions Decisions
An admissions committee, consisting of teachers and administrators, makes admission decisions. The admissions committee’s job is to admit students for whom Kittredge School is a good fit. We look for families who understand and support our school mission and core values, and for students who will thrive in our small, nurturing environment and will benefit from our structured curriculum. Children who succeed at Kittredge tend to have a natural desire to learn and want to take an active role in their learning. Admission decisions will be mailed on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, and emailed the following day at noon. Kittredge School is a member of the Independent Schools of the San Francisco Bay Area (ISSFBA) and abides by all of its rules and procedures.
